Open and shut trail

State Assemblyman Martin Luster (D-125th), right, cuts a ceremonial ribbon to reopen the Cascadilla Gorge Trail, Oct. 21, while Plantations Director Donald Rakow looks on. The trail, part of the Plantations Path system, had been closed to the public due to winter flood damage since January of 1996, but was reopened after repairs were made with the assistance of state and federal emergency management funds. However, the trail is closed again, temporarily, while repairs are being made to the Stewart Avenue bridge. See Brief item. Frank DiMeo/University Photography
