Health and medical journalist speaks on weight control, March 31

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Anne M. Fletcher, an award-winning health and medical journalist and Cornell alumna, will be speaking on campus in the Hollis E. Cornell Auditorium of Goldwin Smith Hall, March 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The tile of her talk, free and open to the public, is "Winning at Weight Control: What We Can Learn From Maintainers," and it will be followed by a question-and-answer period and book signing. It is sponsored by Cornell Fitness Centers, Gannett: Cornell Health Services, and the Health Nuts.

Fletcher, M.S., R.D. (Cornell B.S. '74) shares the strategies of hundreds of people who have won the weight battle. As author of the national best seller, Thin for Life: 10 Keys to Success From People Who Have Lost Weight and Kept It Off , Fletcher will discuss bridging the gap between conflicting messages about weight control.

She has been a guest on the "The View," the "Today Show," "Donahue," "Good Morning America," CNN and National Public Radio's "Talk of the Nation." Her articles have appeared in Vogue , Redbook , McCalls , Good Housekeeping , Parenting , Journal of Food Science , the Journal of the American Dietetic Association and Prevention .

Previously, Fletcher was executive editor and chief writer of the Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter and a contributing editor for Prevention Magazine. She also taught nutrition and biochemistry for Pennsylvania State University and was an assistant director of Frances Stern Nutrition Center at New England Medical Center Hospital in Boston.
