CU's Pat Pollak receives prestigious award

Patricia Baron Pollak, Cornell associate professor of policy analysis and management and director of graduate studies for community and rural development, was honored with the 2006 Margarita McCoy Award, Nov. 11, at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning Annual Meeting in Fort Worth, Texas.

The award recognizes one faculty member in the United States "who has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of women in planning in the university setting."

Pollak, who is an international expert on residential land-use controls and local housing policy, was recognized for multiple contributions to the association. Her contributions include developing and implementing governance, mentoring, communications and networking processes and structures that are equitable and fair to planning faculty and graduate students, including women. The association is a consortium of university programs offering degrees in urban and regional planning; it promotes education, research, service and outreach in planning and community development in the United States and throughout the world.
