Tickets to go on sale May 23 for Dalai Lama talk Oct. 9 at Cornell

Cornell will host the Dalai Lama, speaking on "A Human Approach to World Peace," Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. in Barton Hall.

Tickets -- priced at $125, $75, $50 and $20 -- can be purchased online at http://www.namgyal.org, beginning May 23. To accommodate new students, a limited number of additional tickets exclusively for the Cornell community will go on sale beginning Aug. 15.

The visit is taking place under the auspices of Ithaca's Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, which is the North American seat of the personal monastery of the Dalai Lama.

The Dalai Lama will discuss his views of practical measures by which individuals can contribute to creating a peaceful, compassionate society through awareness of the increasing interdependence of global communities.

On Oct. 10, the Dalai Lama will present "Dharma Talk: Eight Verses on Training the Mind" at Ithaca College, and conduct an interfaith dialogue at the State Theatre. Tickets for those events will also be on sale beginning May 23.
