German fellowships available

DAAD fellowships available: Applications are now being accepted for DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) fellowships for the 2009-10 academic year. DAAD fellowships carry tuition and fees, monthly stipends ranging from 715 Euro to 975 Euro and a stipend to defray travel costs.

The fellowships enable students to study at a German university or to work on a research project in Germany. The competition is open to graduating seniors, graduate students and recent Ph.D.s and postdoctoral researchers from all schools and colleges at Cornell. For study in the fields of medicine and dentistry, contact the DAAD New York office at daadny@daad.org.

The application deadline is Oct. 24 for artists and musicians, and Nov. 3 for all others. Exchange fellowship competition: Statements of intent to apply for the 2009-10 Cornell-Heidelberg Exchange Fellowship competition are also being collected by Deinert and should be submitted as soon as possible. Completed applications are due by Dec. 1, and should include a CV (complete with local address, telephone number and e-mail address), Cornell transcript, a brief rationale for study abroad and one letter of recommendation from a professor in the student's field.
