Cornell senior Vicente Gonzalez elected to national board

ILR School student Vicente Gonzalez '11 has been elected to serve a two-year term as student representative on the Mortar Board National Council, the 10-member board of directors of Mortar Board, a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service.

Gonzalez served as a student representative at the 2010 Mortar Board National Conference, July 23-25 in Chicago. As a national council member, Gonzalez meets with national leaders of Mortar Board, travels as an official representative and make decisions that guide the long-term future of the organization. His term ends in July 2012.

At the conference, Gonzalez accepted the Silver Torch Award on behalf of the Der Hexenkreis chapter at Cornell, which was chartered in 1918 and has 28 members.
