Flu vaccines now available on campus

The first flu vaccine clinics of the 2014-15 season are underway. Vaccines are available at walk-in clinics at locations around campus (see schedule below). This schedule changes often; check for updates online prior to attending.

Flu vaccines are free to Cornell students, staff, faculty and retirees. Student spouses and domestic partners on the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) are also eligible for a free vaccine. Bring your Cornell ID. The cost of the flu vaccine for student spouses and student domestic partners not on SHIP is $35.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, annual vaccination is the single most important step people can take to protect themselves and others. This year’s quadrivalent flu vaccine (available as shots and mist) provides protection against the four strains of influenza most likely to cause illness this year. A high-dose trivalent vaccine is also available for staff, faculty and retirees age 65 and older.

Though Gannett is not able to provide flu vaccines for children or for spouses and domestic partners of employees and retirees, pediatricians, primary care providers, pharmacies, and county health departments provide a range of vaccination opportunities to meet every family’s needs.

Vaccination appointments at Gannett also are available, as staffing allows. Call 607-255-5155.
