No injuries were reported in a fire at the Statler Hotel Thursday morning that suspended classes and caused guests and staff to be evacuated from the hotel and Statler Hall.

The Ithaca Fire Department and Cornell Environmental Health and Safety responded to an alarm that went off just before 8 a.m. Thursday. The fire, which was quickly controlled and contained, started in the upper floors and likely originated in a kitchen grease hood. Guests initially were evacuated to Barton Hall and later moved to the ILR complex.

IFD conducted air quality tests following the incident, and guests were able to return to their rooms. Classes in Statler Hall will resume at 1:25 p.m. Thursday. The Terrace Restaurant will reopen Monday, April 27.
