In response to Virginia Tech tragedy, Cornell will hold vigil, support meetings and set up 'Together We Mourn' stations
All members of the Cornell community are invited to attend a gathering in remembrance of the victims of the April 16 Virginia Tech tragedy, attend support meetings and send condolences from stations set up across campus in the coming days. Below are details: • Vigil for Virginia Tech: A gathering for reflection and remembrance will be held Thursday, April 19, from 12:30 to 1:15 p.m. in Sage Chapel. It will be Web streamed live at http://www.cornell.edu/ and broadcast on CUTV, Channel 100. • Support meetings: Following the vigil, a community support meeting for students will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the Willard Straight Hall International Lounge. Share your concerns and hear about resources with support staff. For staff and faculty, members of Organizational Development Services and the Employee Assistance Program will facilitate Helping Hand Meetings at various locations around campus, April 19 to 27. • "Together We Mourn" project: Send a card, sign a banner, make a ribbon to wear ... The Association of College Unions International has called upon all college campuses to participate in the "Together We Mourn" project in response to the tragedy. Stations will be set up across campus where members of the Cornell community can express their support, thoughts and prayers to the students, staff, faculty and families of Virginia Tech. These stations will be equipped with cards, writing tools and banners where individuals can express themselves in their own way; these expressions of support will be collected and delivered to Virginia Tech as a collective show of solidarity on behalf of Cornell. Ribbons bearing VT's school colors will be distributed.
