Student tickets available for Dalai Lama talk

His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Cornell Oct. 9 for a lecture from 2 to 4 p.m. in Barton Hall. In his talk, "A Human Approach to World Peace," the Dalai Lama will present practical measures by which individuals can contribute to creating a peaceful, compassionate society through awareness of the increasing interdependence of global communities.

To accommodate new Cornell students at this event, a limited number of $20 tickets will be available to students only, beginning Aug. 20 at http://www.namgyal.org. Online-only purchases are limited to two tickets per person with activated Cornell student ID and password.

After Sept. 15, remaining tickets (if any) will be available to the general public, including Cornell faculty and staff. The Dalai Lama will be in Ithaca Oct. 9-10; his appearances at Ithaca College and the State Theatre are sold out. The Dalai Lama's visit is sponsored by Ithaca's Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies, the North American seat of the Dalai Lama's personal monastery.
