David Skorton signs Presidents Climate Commitment

In the university's most high-profile move yet toward sustainability goals, President David Skorton signed the American College and University Presidents Climate Commitment on Feb. 22, saying in a statement, "Cornell is positioned to take a leadership role in sustainability education and research because of our tradition of collaboration across boundaries and the broad scope of our fields and colleges." Cornell joins about 80 other colleges and universities in pledging bold efforts to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases associated with global warming. Read the full statement.

Provost Biddy Martin will deliver the address, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. in David L. Call Alumni Auditorium, Kennedy Hall. President Skorton has requested an annual lecture "to engage the entire community in a regular and sustained public dialogue about our most precious asset and the very reason for which Cornell University was founded, our academy."
