New CIT status page alerts users of service outages

When the network slows down or stops, information you want isn't available, or the phones are unreliable, you can find an explanation on the new "Current Status of CIT Services" page at http://cit.cornell.edu. The new page replaces the former Network Status page, which was directed at technical support providers. It now gives all campus users a view into performance issues that may affect their work.

The page includes information on performance issues, emergency maintenance, and security alerts in addition to planned and unplanned outages. An RSS feed is available that will automatically distribute alerts.

The most recent service alert appears at the upper right side of the Computing at Cornell home page, with a link to the status page.
