Fall Reading Series to bring Salman Rushdie, William Kennedy and other writers to campus

The Cornell English department's Creative Writing Program will bring a roster of established and emerging fiction writers and poets to campus as part of its fall 2007 Reading Series. The writers will read from their works and discuss the writing life. All readings are free and open to the public.

  • Willie Perdomo, poet, Aug. 30, 4:30 p.m., Hollis E. Cornell (HEC) Auditorium, Goldwin Smith Hall.
  • Sandra Cisneros, fiction writer, Sept. 13, 7:30 p.m., Schwartz Auditorium, Rockefeller Hall.
  • Gabrielle Calvocoressi, poet, Sept. 27, 4:30 p.m., HEC Auditorium.
  • Salman Rushdie, fiction writer, Oct. 18, 8 p.m., Uris Auditorium.
  • William Kennedy, fiction writer, Nov. 1, 7:30 p.m., HEC Auditorium.
  • Lee Smith, fiction writer, with Hal Crowther, nonfiction writer, Nov. 15, 7:30 p.m., HEC Auditorium.

The spring 2008 Reading Series will feature fiction writers Denis Johnson, Sarah Mkhonza and Ernesto Quinonez; poets Mark Doty, Lyrae Van Clief-Stefanon and Charles Simic; and nonfiction writer Paul Lisicky.
