Ten professors awarded Zalaznick Teaching Assistantships

Ten Cornell professors recently received awards from the Louis H. Zalaznick Teaching Assistantship program, administered by Entrepreneurship@Cornell. The awards allow faculty affiliated with Entrepreneurship@Cornell to extend their capacity to work with students by providing an assistant(s) to help with their courses and/or course development.

This year's recipients are:

  • Ola Bengtsson, assistant professor of finance and entrepreneurship at the Johnson School, for the courses Advanced Private Equity and Cases in Venture Capital Financing.
  • Brenda Bricker, director of undergraduate affairs, College of Human Ecology, for her courses Collaborative Leadership and Leadership in Nonprofits.
  • John Callister, director of the Harvey Kinzelberg Entrepreneurship in Engineering Program, College of Engineering, for his course on entrepreneurship for engineers.
  • Ralph Christy, the J. Thomas Clark Professor of Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise, College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, for his Emerging Markets course.
  • David Funk, director, Program in Real Estate, Department of City and Regional Planning, College of Architecture, Art and Planning, for seminars and courses in the program.
  • Aija Leiponen, assistant professor of applied economics and management, CALS, to develop a database of local startup company experiences related to business model development for her course Innovation Strategy.
  • James H. Quest, Entrepreneur in Residence, School of Hotel Administration, to help develop a marketing communications plan to increase student interest in the "Conversations with Entrepreneurs" speaker series.
  • Wes Sine, the J. Thomas Clark Professor of Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise, Johnson School, to support his courses on management of technology and university technology entrepreneurship.
  • Deborah Streeter, the Bruce F. Failing Sr. Professor of Personal Enterprise and Small Business, CALS, for her course Personal Enterprise and Small Business Management.
  • Michael Timmons, J. Thomas Clark Professor of Entrepreneurship and Personal Enterprise, Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering, CALS, to help him complete his new textbook, "Technology-Driven Entrepreneurship."

The assistantships were established in 1993 by David W. Zalaznick '76, a Cornell trustee, and his wife, Barbara '76, to honor David's father, Louis.
