Helping faculty use technology in teaching

In college, just like K-12, the students often know more about computers than the teachers. So the Student Technology Assistant Program employs students to help faculty deploy modern technology in their classrooms. Faculty and instructors can visit the Academic Technology Centers in the Computing and Communications Center and in Simpson Hall, or phone 255-9760 to arrange for an appointment for one-on-one assistance in the teacher's office.

Help is available to:

  • Create course Web sites (hosting is provided);
  • Transfer audio and video to digital formats for use in PowerPoint or on the Web;
  • Scan and edit images;
  • Learn and use Blackboard;
  • Prepare course content for classroom presentations;
  • Learn and use Blackboard; and
  • Create Web surveys to gather statistics about teaching techniques, classroom content or other topics.
