The Administrative Streamlining Program (ASP) is hosting a series of informal brown bag lunches to update the campus community on progress in the various initiatives.

"These informal gatherings are being offered to provide an opportunity for the campus to hear about the current status of each streamlining initiative and provide a casual forum for question-and-answer sessions with program managers," said John Adams, assistant vice president for planning and budget. "We hope that people get a better sense of the impact each initiative is making on the university's administrative processes, and how changes to central services will better serve the university going forward."

ASP consists of 10 cost‐cutting initiatives that make centralized services across campus more efficient. "To date, more than $40 million of identified costs have been cut from the operating budget, primarily through the facilities, information technology, spans and layers, and procurement initiatives," according to Elmira Mangum, vice president for planning and budget. The rest of initiative savings will be achieved over the next three fiscal years, she said, and these projected savings have been incorporated into the fiscal year 2011‐12 budget.

The following brown-bag lunch sessions will be held this semester:

• Procurement: Sept. 12, noon-1 p.m., Physical Sciences Building, Baker Portico. Presenters: Tom Romantic, senior director of supply channel management and business services; Mike Winters, manager of procurement, Supply Management Services; and Cindy Jefferson, purchasing agent, Supply Management Services.
• Facilities: Sept. 28, noon-1 p.m., Friends Hall, Hall of Fame Room. Presenter: Kristine Mahoney, director, facilities and operations management, College of Human Ecology.
• Information technology: Oct. 6, noon-1 p.m., 401 Physical Sciences Building. Presenters: Nancy VanOrman, director, Cornell Information Technologies (CIT) support; Dave Koehler, director, CIT information systems; and Dave Vernon, director, CIT network and communications services.
• Human resources and spans and layers: Oct. 14, noon-1 p.m., Physical Sciences Building, Baker Portico.
