Students arrive on campus
Diverse, global Class of 2012 arrives on campus

Boxes, luggage, eager students and teary parents flooded the sidewalks and lawns of North Campus Aug. 22 as Cornell welcomed the Class of 2012. The hustle and bustle of moving into rooms kicked off a week of orientation events, which included an official greeting by President David Skorton and discussions of the New Student Reading Project book, "Lincoln at Gettysburg."

Students move into West Campus houses as workers move out

David Skorton on bulldozer As West Campus construction came to an end, President Skorton climbed aboard a departing bulldozer and expressed delight that construction was completed two years ahead of schedule. "Whenever I visit one of the West Campus residential houses, I come away more convinced than ever that our decision to integrate living and learning in the undergraduate experience has made a real difference in the lives of our students and faculty," said Skorton.
