July 2008
David Fletcher Hoy III, grandson of "Davy" Hoy, to whom we give regards at Cornell sporting events, presented a memento of his legendary grandfather to University Archivist Elaine Engst at a ceremony July 23. David Fletcher Hoy, Class of 1891, M.S. 1893, devoted much of his life to serving as one of Cornell's first administrators and was an enthusiastic supporter of Big Red baseball. He threw out the first pitch when Hoy Field -- named in his honor -- was dedicated in 1922, and now that ball will be preserved and displayed in Kroch Library.
