Big Red hockey fans take over sold-out Madison Square Garden

More than 12,000 Cornell hockey fans converged on New York City's Madison Square Garden to cheer on the Big Red, as the team skated to a 3-3 tie against defending NCAA national champion Boston University, Nov. 28. The Big Red fans got revved up at several alumni events before the game, including the Rinkside Rally with President David Skorton and coach Mike Schafer '86.

Using high-tech headbands, Psych 101 students sleep for science

Brittany Jaso Freshman Brittany Jaso is one of 320 students in Ithaca and 58 at Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar taking part in the largest-ever objective study of the sleep patterns of individual college students -- a demographic that sleep researcher Jim Maas calls "perhaps the most sleep-deprived segment of our population." Maas' study has two goals: to provide baseline data on how much and how well students sleep; and to test whether Psych 101 students improve their sleep habits.

Provost releases strategic planning task force reports

In a letter issued Nov. 6, Provost Kent Fuchs announced that the 20 strategic planning task force reports are now available to the Cornell community. Summaries of the reports are posted online, and full reports can be read in the Office of the Dean of Faculty in Day Hall.
