ExxonMobil Foundation gives $468,000 to Cornell

The ExxonMobil Foundation has made a gift to Cornell through the foundation's Educational Matching Gifts Program.

The check for $467,966 was presented to President David Skorton by engineering alumna Sherri Stuewer '73, M.S. '75, ExxonMobil's vice president of environmental policy and planning, during the Cornell Board of Trustees meeting in New York City, April 8.

This year, Cornell received the fifth-largest gift out of 908 colleges and universities through this program, which allows ExxonMobil employees, retirees, surviving spouses and directors to make contributions to higher education institutions. The foundation matches $3 to every $1 gift, up to $7,500.

Since its inception in 1962, the program has provided more than $423 million to institutions of higher education.
