Alumni elect two representatives to board of trustees

Two additions to the Cornell University Board of Trustees were recently elected in voting that ran from Feb. 1 through April 1.

Alumni elected Gregory Galvin, M.S. '82, Ph.D. '84, MBA '93, and Rana Glasgal '87, M.Eng. '92, as alumni trustees.

Galvin, who lives in Ithaca, is president and chief executive officer of Kionix, which he founded in 1993 to commercialize a novel micromechanical technology pioneered by researchers at Cornell. He also is chairman of the board of Rheonix Inc., which originated at Kionix in 2008 to develop technology in the molecular diagnostic industry.

Glasgal, of Palo Alto, Calif., is associate vice provost for institutional research and decision support at Stanford University. Her job has three major components: performing institutional research, learning assessment and program evaluation, and decision support services.

Galvin and Glasgal will serve four-year terms beginning July 1.

The board helps determine major policy directions for the university and has an important role in safeguarding its integrity.
