Volunteers needed for inauguration on Sept. 7

Cornell needs you. Be part of President David Skorton's inauguration Sept. 7 by volunteering for one or more of the following posts: Faculty, student and staff regalia distribution; inaugural information center; volunteer registration; delegate registration, luncheon and robing; procession; installation ceremony and reception; errand runner; golf cart driver; and bus guide.

To volunteer, fill out the application form at http://commencement.cornell.edu/Inauguration/ by Friday, Aug. 25, and attend one of the following mandatory orientation meetings:

  • Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2:30-4 p.m., G-10 Biotechnology Building
  • Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2:30-4 p.m., G-10 Biotechnology Building

Supervisory approval is needed for release time from work for volunteer hours that coincide with scheduled work hours. Hours spent volunteering will be considered paid leave only if they coincide with scheduled work hours. Hours spent volunteering outside of scheduled work hours will be without pay.

Mary G. Opperman, vice president for human resources, and Tommy Bruce, vice president for university communications, co-chairs of the Inauguration Committee, say they appreciate your consideration to volunteer for this historic event.
