New student radio station Slope Radio to launch Sept. 4

Slope Radio, a new radio station produced by students at Cornell, is set to launch its inaugural broadcast via the Internet on Sept. 4.

Shows will be aired on the station's Web site at http://sloperadio.com/, and operations are headquartered in the Appel Commons on North Campus. Slope Radio will broadcast 24-7 and will provide podcasts, allowing listeners to hear their favorite shows on demand. Other formats will include music, news, interviews and live shows that feature local acts and other radio fare.

Slope Radio is designed to provide the Cornell community and "listeners across the globe with the hottest college Internet radio station on Earth," according to the student group's Web site.

Slope Radio student officers include: Yaw Joseph Etse '08, computer information science and sociology, co-founder, president and IT director; Alex Zahn '07, applied economics and management, co-founder and radio president; Jeff Bookman '07, economics, co-founder and operations president; Ben Ambramoff '08, communication, vice president of operations; Stan Feldman '07, American studies, editorial director; and Stefanie Schoen '07, textiles and apparel, sponsorship director.

Tracy Vosburgh, Cornell director of multimedia development and production, serves as adviser to the group.
