Election for alumni trustees goes paperless

Alumni who vote for trustees will cast their ballots online this year. Election of two alumni-elected trustees to Cornell's board begins Feb. 1.

The plan to go "paperless" will save approximately $90,000, including the cost to mail paper ballots as well as staff and student salaries to process the ballots and update addresses.

Alumni will cast their votes using their NetID and password. Those without a NetID will receive instructions about how to obtain one. Those who wish to vote with a paper ballot may request one.

Four candidates are running for two seats as alumni trustees on the board. The candidates are:

  • Thomas N. Marino '78, of New York City, a managing director at Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays Bank PLC;
  • Gene Resnick '70, M.D. '74, of White Plains, N.Y., chief medical officer for Averion International Corp., an international clinical contract research organization with proven expertise in supporting global clinical trials for pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical device companies;
  • Sheryl Hilliard Tucker '78, of North Caldwell, N.J., executive editor of Time Inc., where she works closely with Time Inc.'s editor-in-chief, helping to oversee the editorial content of such magazines such Time, Fortune, People and Sports Illustrated; and
  • Enrique Jose Vila-Biaggi '94, M.S. '95, of Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, president of IEDIFIKO Inc., a building and facilities management company he founded in 2004.
