Kosali Simon is 2007 recipient of Thompson Prize

Kosali Simon, assistant professor of policy analysis and management in the College of Human Ecology, has been named the 2007 recipient of the John D. Thompson Prize for Young Investigators from the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) -- a global network of colleges, universities and organizations dedicated to improving health-care delivery.

The Thompson Prize "recognizes young investigators based on their contributions to the research literature in the field of health services." The prize consists of an honorarium and travel expenses to the AUPHA annual meeting, where Simon will receive the award May 31 in Orlando, Fla. In 2005, the award went to Cornell colleague John Cawley.

Simon, who received her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland in 1999 and joined the Cornell faculty in 2001, studies health policy and the economics of public and private health insurance.
