Don't forget that NetID: Library databases available to alumni

After spending years with a world-class academic library at their fingertips, some alumni experience information withdrawal after graduation. Never fear – some of the most heavily used databases in the library are now available to all Cornell graduates.

With funding from the School of Hotel Administration and Johnson School, Cornell University Library is now offering alumni unlimited access to three electronic databases featuring the latest news and research in business, hospitality and on a variety of academic topics.

The databases are:

  • Academic Search Alumni Edition (http://resolver.library.cornell.edu/misc/academicalumni) – designed for the continuing education needs of professionals – provides information in nearly every area of academic study. It includes the complete contents of more than 3,350 journals and indexing and abstracts for more than 8,200 journals in all.
  • Business Source Alumni Edition (http://resolver.library.cornell.edu/misc/businessalumni) includes full-text sources ranging from general periodicals to trade publications. Additional full-text sources include country economic reports, industry reports, market research reports and company profiles. This database includes publications in nearly every area of business, including marketing, management, MIS, POM, accounting, finance, econometrics, economics and more.
  • Hospitality and Tourism Index (http://resolver.library.cornell.edu/misc/hospitalityindexalumni) is a bibliographic database covering scholarly research and industry news relating to all areas of hospitality and tourism.

Publications include Hotel and Motel Management, Journal of Leisure Research and Nation's Restaurant News. Subject areas covered include the culinary arts, demographics and statistics, development and investment, food and beverage management, hospitality law, hotel management and administrative practices, leisure and business travel, market trends, technology and more.

All sites are accessible at http://alumni.library.cornell.edu/askalibrarian.html. A Cornell NetID allows users to log directly on to the sites, without going through the library's interface. Alumni without a NetID can visit the Alumni Affairs site http://alumni.cornell.edu for instructions on requesting one.
