Two new books highlight Cornell's historic 2010 sports year

Two new commemorative books on Cornell's historic 2010 year in sports are now available; proceeds from the sale of the books will benefit Cornell athletics.

The first book, "A Blueprint For Success: Cornell Men's Basketball 2009-10," commemorates the 2009-10 Cornell men's basketball team winning its third straight Ivy League Championship and setting a record for most wins in one season by an Ivy League team. The team was the first Cornell team to win a game in the NCAA Tournament and to make it to the Sweet 16. The team made national headlines and earned the respect and admiration of college basketball fans and experts in the process.

The book takes the reader through the key stages of this record-setting season in the words of Jon Jaques '10, a senior captain on the team and includes features and sections by various contributors. The 92-page book contains many photos showing game action and post-game celebration; comments from Big Red players and coaches; and excerpts from articles written by national media.

"Making History, March 18-21, 2010: The Greatest Cornell Sports Weekend Ever!" highlights the record-setting performances and game-changing moments for four Cornell winter sports teams -- wrestling, men's basketball and men's and women's hockey -- and goes behind the scenes to capture the passion and emotion surrounding these historic victories.

It describes how during the third weekend in March, Cornell was at the pinnacle of the college sports world, competing for national championships and making headlines along the way. The book features more than 100 pages of full-color photos from the four championship tournaments, interviews with players and stories by a writing team of fans, quotes and "perspective" essays by prominent Cornell alumni associated with these Big Red teams.

Both books are published by Ithaca-based MomentumMedia and myTEAMBOOK.net, in conjunction with the Cornell Department of Athletics.

The books can be purchased at http://www.myteambook.net/, the Cornell Store on campus and Borders in the Ithaca Mall.
