Eat your heart out, Rolling Stone
By George Lowery
Cornell's rock-and-roll-inspired 2007 New Student Orientation materials, which emulate Rolling Stone magazine, received two awards from the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA). The New Student Orientation Guide 2007 won "Outstanding General Handbook," and the guide and companion promotional pieces were awarded "Outstanding Use of Theme."
NODA recognized Cornell's creative graphic imagery and printed pieces on a music theme, selected by the 2007 Orientation Steering Committee. In keeping with the music theme, "all access" passes were printed for more than 700 Cornell volunteers, who worked during orientation. Christine Potter of the Dean of Students Office designed the winning materials.
