Committee approves revised Campus Code of Conduct

The Codes and Judicial Committee (CJC) of the University Assembly (UA) approved unanimously its revision of the Campus Code of Conduct Nov. 5. The revision is the result of months of work, incorporating the concerns that the Cornell community has voiced in public forums and written feedback since fall 2006. The document will go to the UA for review at its Nov. 14 meeting. That meeting will offer another opportunity to voice opinions before the code goes to President David Skorton for approval.

The CJC is a representative committee of students, staff and faculty. It revised the code with the goal of making the document more readable and flexible. The revised version maintains the authority of the judicial administrator and judicial process at Cornell, while extending jurisdiction to include provisions for serious offenses committed off campus.
