Course on Transformative Action begins May 4
"Transformative action is a powerful new approach to social change," says Anke Wessels, executive director of the CRESP Center for Transformative Action at Cornell. It is about transforming hatred into goodwill, problems into opportunities, enemies into allies and failure into success, she says.
To inform community members about this transformative action, Wessels will teach a six-week community course on Transformative Action on Monday evenings, May 4 through June 8. The goal of this course is to provide community members with some of the skills and strategies needed to engage in this empowering approach to social change, she said.
Those taking the course will have the opportunity to learn about transformative action principles and how to practice them in their daily lives; to engage with a group of community members who are committed to personal and social transformation; and to gain empowering skills and strategies to nonviolent social change.
The course will meet Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the Café of Anabel Taylor Hall. Registration is $40. To register, contact Wessels at 607-255-5027 or e-mail to akw7@cornell.edu.
