Skorton's State of the University Address slated for Oct. 29

The Cornell University Board of Trustees and the Cornell University Council will hold their annual meeting at Cornell, Oct. 28-30. The featured event will be the State of the University Address by President David Skorton on Friday, Oct. 29.
Skorton will address several major university issues during the annual speech to the joint meeting of the board and council on Friday beginning at 8:45 a.m. in Statler Auditorium. The address will be live-streamed on CornellCast at http://www.cornell.edu/video beginning at 9 a.m.
The trustees will meet Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. in B09 Sage Hall. There will be a brief open session at the beginning of the session, during which there will be a report from Skorton, the 2009-10 financial report, an Audit Committee report and a report on diversity and inclusion initiatives for students, faculty and staff. The board also will meet Saturday in closed session.
Board committee meetings with open sessions, all in the Statler Hotel and Conference Center, are:
- The Committee on Alumni Affairs will meet Thursday, Oct. 28, at 1:30 p.m. in the Taylor Room.
- The Committee on Academic Affairs will have a brief open session at the beginning of its meeting Thursday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. in the amphitheater.
- The Buildings and Property Committee will have an open session at the beginning of its meeting Thursday, Oct. 28, at 3 p.m. in the Carrier Grand Ballroom.
Trustee and Council members will be attending several other events on campus during the joint meetings, including the panel discussion Creating Sustainable Futures for All: Challenges and Opportunities for the World Thursday, Oct. 28, at 4:30 p.m. in Statler Auditorium.
