'Exit Saigon' exhibit extended to Jan. 3
By Nancy Doolittle
More than 5,000 people have attended the "Exit Saigon, Enter Little Saigon -- Vietnamese America Since 1975" exhibit and program series since it arrived in Ithaca in late September. For those who have not yet had the opportunity, the exhibit will remain on display at the Rothschild's Building on the Ithaca Commons, 215 E. State St., until Jan. 3, 2011. This traveling Smithsonian Institution exhibition, co-curated by Vu Pham, M.A. '99, Ph.D. '02, is the Smithsonian's first historical exhibition telling the story of Vietnamese-Americans and shows the vibrant diversity and cultural contributions of this ethnic community and the challenges its members faced in adapting to American life.
After Jan. 3, the exhibit will be placed in storage indefinitely in the Washington, D.C., area.
