Kyu-Jung Whang, vice president for facilities services at Cornell, has issued the following response to inaccuracies in local media articles reporting on the university's relationship with Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT):

Last Thursday (Nov. 10, 2011) about a third of TCAT bus drivers called in sick, making it necessary to cancel rural routes for the day. The incident reminded community members of the contract negotiations between TCAT and UAW Local 2300, which represents the drivers. The ensuing discussions promoted certain inaccuracies:
